This question may be off topic some but I have recieved excellent help from this site. I am using a dl05 and a c-more mini micro to learn on and for class. Is there any way (meter, etc) to first test 4-20ma transmitter circuits and second is it possible to use this meter??? in place of the pressure transmitter. Just trying to possibly kill two birds at once, trying not to buy a pressure transmitter and get a test meter at the same time. Thanks DT

If you are looking for something a little more specialized, Extech makes a nice unit . It's quite a bit cheaper, but all it does is voltage and current simulation/reading unlike the Fluke which has a ton of bells and whistles.
I have one of their older models and it works quite well.

I seem to recall that there was a way, using a 250 ohm resistor to change the 4-20mA to 1-5 VDC. That leads be think that with a variable output power supply, the 4-20mA could be used. Not sure if this is where the OP wants to go.

You can make a simulator for loop powered 4-20 mA by using a resistor and a potentiometer in series. A 1 kOhm in series with a 5 kOhm pot should be sufficient. I don't recommend it for field troubleshooting, but is sure saves time and money when you are doing shop testing of a system with a lot of analog inputs.
