I am attempting to connect to a DL06 through Port 2. I made a DB9 - > DB15 cable using the pinout in the manual. In the beginning, nothing would happen. The RX2 light did not light when I sent a byte. I then thought maybe I have TX & RX switched so I put a NULL modem adapter in the line. This time, the light lit, but it stayed lit. Now whenever the cable is plugged in (with or w/o the null modem adapter) the RX2 light is lit. I can send data now and see the light turn brighter and dimmer but it is always on whenever there is a connection. The cable is correct, I 've checked it many times. Could it be possible that I 've damaged the port? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I think at least one of the pins is a power line. If you are connecting to a PC (which doesn't require power), make sure you don't have any power going through to the slave device, or (especially) looped back to another pin.

I have 3 wires connected. TX pin 2, RX pin 3, and GND pin 7. I'm not using any handshaking.

The RX2 indicator staying on is not a good sign. Did you loop back RTS and CTS on port 2 on the DL06?

Problem solved. I still don't know why the RX2 LED stayed lit, but after a power cycle, it went off. My problem was not doing the loop back that Andy suggested. Thanks for the help.
