newbie here with some background in stamp micro controller and a variant of basic. so now i bought a DL340 system and i have a couple of questions. 1. is ladder the only programming option, is there a variant of basic that can be used? 2. i downloaded the directsoft 5, and it has a 100 word limit,, how much can one do with this limit? 3. if it takes 50 words to control one I/O then what will i need to do? what software would i need? i am looking to do a variety of fairly simple stuff, control relays, time functions and maybe at some point read analog inputs, (temp and pressure) any guidance would be appreciated thanks bob g

Relay ladder logic is the traditional language for PLCs. If you have something that can more efficiently and effectively be programmed in Basic, there are Basic coprocessor modules available for the DL06, DL205 and DL405 platforms, but not for the DL305.

The 50 word program limit is applied to the free demo version of DirectSoft software. When you purchase a license, the limit is removed. Then your program size is limited by the memory in the CPU.
