can i use a external 24volt dc supply along with the dl06 supply and just tie the negetives together or would that mess up the unit, i need to get a input to the plc but the signals are off another supply

If the source of the other supply is not too far away then tie the negatives together. If you are tying the negative sides to frame ground then do it at only one point. If the source is from another machine then use it for isolated inputs or outputs.

If you are wiring to an input just make sure that the connection to the input common is from the supply which powers the input device. The 24 VDC power supply contacts provided on a 110VAC powered unit are isolated from the input commons unless you wire them together. Check the wiring diagrams in the manual carefully.
