hey guys i got another one for ya's ,, how do i keep settings incase of a power loss,,i want to be able to store custom times and allready set internal coils. if i get a battery will my plc hold these settings or do i need to do something else. what benifits does the battery have over the cap? i know the cap will die after a few days or so but is there anything else? so here is what happens, when i simulate a power loss i have to go into my hmi and set up all my set times and contacts but if im away and i lose power i will not be able to reset these settings.. thanks

    hilltop,

In Direct soft, PLC, setup, retentive ranges, you can change or confirm what the retentive ranges for your particular plc. The super capacitor will hold these values for a couple of days. the battery is avalible at the ADC website D2-BAT-1

    DL06, D2-250(-1), D2-260, D3-350 CPUS & C-MORE TOUCH PANEL BATTERY

Over at plcs.net Ron Beufort has a discussion abot retentive coils http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?p=71786&postcount=1

Here are some threads about non volatile memory http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/Forum1/HTML/001054.html http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/Forum1/HTML/001712.html http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/Forum1/HTML/002624.html http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/Forum1/HTML/002725.html

Install the battery for much longer memory retention. Check the manual for special relays that can indicate low battery on your HMI. In directsoft, go to menu PLC>setup>retentative ranges to choose what memory segments you want retained during power down.

The cap holds re-tentative memory for a couple of days at best.

The battery will hold re-tentative memory for a real long time... in my experience the battery will last several years.

I think the battery holder for the 06 is on the front near Port 2, but I don't have one in front of me at the moment to verify that.

The 05 doesn't have a battery holder. I'm pretty sure you have to buy that memory cartridge.

    Rich19551,

On an 06, the battery is located above the status leds. Chris.Zeman is right the 05 requires a memory cartrige D0-01MC. Which also happens to use the same battery inside.
