DN Loader

Has anyone used DN Loader? I just tried it and had a major "Windows " shut down problem. Half way through the READ FROM PLC process my screen went black then to blue with a dumping memory statement and then re-booted my computer. I'm running XP Pro on a Dell Dimension 9150 with 1 Gig of memory. The connection to the D0-05DR PLC is through a USB hub and a USB to Serial adapter. The DN Loader sounds like a useful tool if I can get it to work.

DNLoader has been out there quite a while, and since its release I have no record of it crashing a PC... wow... http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/frown.gif
I have, however, seen USB serial adapter drivers crash PCs (like crazy!). So, statistically, I'm gonna guess that your USB driver is the issue. You might want to go to the website for your USB adapter and see if they have any updates to the driver.

Do you have another PC you could try DNLoader on if the USB drivers aren't at fault? Of course, though, Greg is probably right on the mark with that one.

Thank you for all the advice. The problem seems to be the USB to Serial cable I was using. DN Loader works great! Are there any plans for AutomationDirect to come up with a USB programming cable?
