I would like to use the M#X modbus instructions using a ECOM-100 however the documentation tells me they only viable on port f2 - is there a way other than LL

To do Modbus TCP with ECOM100 does not require that you use the MRX/MWX instruction. Instead you:

    (1) Configure an peer-to-peer table in the ECOM100 using NetEdit3, choosing Modbus TCP (for a given ID).

    (2) Use WX/RX to that ID.

You can figure out the Modbus-to-PLC memory mapping from the manual, or you can e-mail me, and I'll send you a 2-page .PDF that will summarize it for you.

Thanks for you reply, are there plans to extend the MRX/MWX instruction to ECOM100 or the DO-DCM?

MRX/MWX will support D0-DCM in DirectSOFT v5.1 (maintenance release). There will be a new set of instructions (i.e. IBoxes, not MRX/MWX) that will be added to support Modbus over ECOM100 in DirectSOFT v6.0.
