I am looking for the most cost effective module and rotary encoder to measure the angle of a shaft that turns about 200 degrees max for a DL240 system. This is for monitoring a spindle on a mandrel tubing bender and I would like to have a resolution of at least .25 degrees - if not .1 degrees. Will the "D2-CTRINT " do it, or do I have to go to a "H2-CTRIO "? The spindle does not move very quickly - maximum I'm guessing is around 200 RPM. I do need a way for it to tell direction as well. Thank you, Jason

Either module could possibly do it. The H2-CTRIO is a bit easier to setup, IMHO.

Ok, I have been scanning through the manual for the D2-ctrint and it does look like it will do want I need. But, I now have another question. I was planning on getting a quadtrature encoder with 360 pulses per revolution and using 4X count mode so I could have a resolution of .25 degrees per count. In one footnote, however, I noticed this "* This feature will allow the counter to count 4 times more with the same encoder (250"1/260 only). " Does that mean 4X counting only works on 250 and 260 cpu's but not the 240?
Thank you,
Jason

That is what it means. The 4x mode is available on the D2-250-1 and D2-260 only.
Please be aware as well that the D2-CTRINT must go in slot 0 of the PLC rack next to the CPU.
