The old H0-ECOM cards don't work with the new I-box Comm stuff? I have to upgrade to H0-ECOM100? Is there any trade in value if this is true?

Although I would really really like to be able to use the new IBoxes with older ECOM's, I think they said the new features are only available with ECOM100's. It might be due to hardware limitations.

Not completely true!
Remember, IBoxes are just ladder macros behind a box.
There are certain IBox features that obviously cannot be used with ECOMs because ECOMs themselves do not support what they do. For example:
ECDHCPD - ECOM100 disable DHCP: This IBox allows you to disable the DHCP in an ECOM100. "Old " ECOMs do not have DHCP capability, so that will not work. Or ECEMAIL - ECOM100 send email: This IBox allows you to send an e-mail to a SMTP server. "Old " ECOMs do not have SMTP protocol support, so that will not work.
However, the NETRX and NETWX IBoxes that greatly simplify doing RXs and WXs for ECOMs will certainly work with "old " ECOMs. In fact, I would recommend it! These powerful IBoxes also work for CPU serial ports or DCMs!
If you use them you don't have to worry about which SP bits to use, nor do you have to do any interlocking. You can just put all your NETRXs on a single rung of logic and they will execute in order and not interfere with one another!
Hope that helps!

Unfortunately the IBox I was looking to use on an older setup was the e-mail feature.

The original ECOMs do not support SMTP. Only the new Hx-ECOM100s support SMTP.

Anyway or chance of taking the "hard coded " TO: and CC: out of the ECOM card and putting it into the PLC ladder. It would be great to e-mail to specific people during certain times of the day rather than CC:ing everyone and so on.

I read a bit more of the help file within the instruction and its a bit fuzzy. Ignore the above statement until I investigate a bit more. Sorry.

There is a TO field in the ECEMAIL IBox. However, you are limited to about 100 characters of data in ALL of the fields in the IBox (To, Subject and Message).
Therefore, if you can preprogram any email address(es) in the ECOM100 module in its cc: field, and NOT have it in the To: ladder IBox field, that gives you more data for the Message and/or the Subject fields in the IBox at runtime.
