DirectSOFT PID View problem

Hello, I am experiencing a problem where one of my 4 DL 450 PLCs cannot change any variables from the DirectSOFT PID View, but they can be changed via Ladder logic or HPP. The variables display the correct value, but cannot be changed, almost like they are read only. If I click on the Mode, and try to change it to 'manual ', the dialogue box that normally pops up asking you to confirm your decision does NOT pop up (it has never been disabled), the mode will display 'manual ' for a few seconds, and then it will slide back to 'Automatic '. I am using DirectSOFT32 - Programming Version 4.0 (Build 25) on a Windows XP Pro machine. Any ideas? Thanks, Brandon

Sorry to state the obvious, but just to make sure...

Ensure you are not writing over any of these values within your ladder code.

No, they aren't being written over, I 've checked multiple times because that is the only thing I could think that would be wrong. I 've even gone so far as to clear the PLC, and the scratchpad, and then upload the program and PID loops and settings all over again, and it STILL didn't fix the problem. I'm not to sure where to go now.

Alright, I fixed the problem, although I'm not positive as to what the problem initially was.

I basically just did a full reset of all memory on the PLC, and then restored them back to what I had saved a minute before. This fixed the problem or writing PID changes via the PID window in DirectSOFT.

While the memory was being cleared, DirectSOFT came across a PID memory error which was located in a V-Mem that I don't recall had anything to do with any of the PID loops. My guess is that through one of the infrequent DirectSOFT crashes, the program may have been corrupted, which clearing all of the PLC memory seemed to fix.

I'm not sure why the previous attempts to fix it by clearing the memory failed, maybe it's because today is Friday http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/smile.gif
