I run Direct Soft version 2.4A I am on a job where I have to edit the programs in a 340 and 430. I can not build a link to the 340. Even using the Automatic find a link does not connect. I see the LED for port one flash for every baud rate tried, but they all fail. Second problem I built a link for the 430 CPU and it linked up but it said I have a fatal error. From then on, if I try to rebuild a new link or use the existing link, half way through the link up my computer reboots. I built a link for the last 205 CPU and it worked fine. Atech at Automation Direct said that the 205 is a very friendly cpu. I have a 1997 Gateway Laptop. I run Windows 95. That is why Automation Direct said that 2.4A is the best choice for me. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

My guess would be that you do not have the licenses for the 305 or 405 series of PLCs. Each PLC series has its own part in the Direct Soft Software. That is one selling point of the DS Software. You only have to buy what you need. I have a copy of the Brick and the 205 software since I only program 250s, 06s, and 130s. You will have to install the 305 and 405 portions of the software to be able to program them. I do not know if you will still be able to get the V2.4 portions though.
