I have an 8pt input simulator in slot 1 and an F2-04AD-1 analog module in slot 2. The CPU is a 250-1. There is a F2-04RTD in slot 3. I am trying to set up transducer and RTD failure alarms. If an RTD fails the appropriate failure bit will turn on, in my case X60-X63. However when I simulate a transducer failure by disconnecting it the V-mem goes to zero but the failure bit (X27) does not come on. If I remove the 24 volts my V-mem goes to 9768 but still X27 does not turn on. I suppose I could just use my V-mem values to trigger alarms but I wonder why my RTD failure bits work but not the analog module bits.

The F2-04AD-1 does not support broken transmitter detection like the F2-04RTD. The Diagnostic Bit on the F2-04AD-1 (X27 in your case) only indicates if No 24VDC or No Terminal Block.

Note that you will only see X27 if you you are using the Multiplexing method of reading the analog data. If you are using the pointer method and there is not 24VDC or TB is removed then all channel data will be 8000 hex.

I'm not sure why it shows as 9768 in your app unless you are doing some scaling.

If you need broken transmitter detection in your app then the F2-08AD-1 is the way to go.
