I am using an -06 with an EZ-Text 220p. I am trying to use the clock/calender feature for default Operator display as well as record tracking of one major machine component to be serviced on a regular basis at intervals of either starts or hours. I set up a simple hour meter for that. My question is: why does the clock not keep very acurate time when powered down? For 'acurate ' I mean just 'usable '. I thought I read somewhere in this Forum that for a different model PLC I have to "Tell " the PLC that it has a battery. I guess the -06, out of the box, does not have a battery? If I install the optional backup battery(D2-BAT-1) that the manual talks about and Set bit 12 in V7633 to ON will this make the clock more acurate? Is there some kinda Wal-Mart watch replacement battery I can use instead of AD's exact number? Thanks.

You shouldn't need to install a battery to get the clock to work, even when the PLC is off. We are using DL06's (without batteries) and the clocks keep perfect time, on or off, so I'm not sure what the problem could be.

I have noticed that on some PLC's the clock reads as 0:00 (all zeroes) on the first scan after being powered on, so I trigger any clock-sensitive stuff on "Not-first-scan. " I don't know if this would be affecting you though.

Interesting. I set the machine up on Thursday of last week(7/24)and briefly set the date and time and checked program functionality. Powered down until Friday morning when I reset clock because it lost about an hour. Left power ON most of the day until personel available to operate/test machine. Power left ON until end of shift Friday night then powered down until Monday morning. Clock fine on Monday morning. ??? Could it be the storage capacitor needed time to charge?? or something? No matter. It seems to be working fine now. I checked over the weekend for local(Wal-Mart) availability of battery CR2354. No luck. Not in stores at Radio Shack either. We'll try without for a while and see what happens.

    Thanks much.
