I'm trying to initiate a DirectNet request using a Palm M100. I can successful send the initiate request signal ( "4E2205 "in HEX) but I'm not getting a response from port 2 on the PLC which is a DL250 CPU. I have the PLC station set to 2. I believe the Palm is sending the request out using ASCII but I'm not positive. I 've tried both ASCII and HEX and have not been successful. I was told by Tech Support that the PLC was supposed to automatically acknowledge my DirectNet request and that I wouldn't have to write slave RLL instructions to handle my requests. I 've connected the PLC to the Palm in the following manner: Pin 2 (transmit) on Port2 of DL250CPU is connected to Pin 3 (receive) on Palm M100. Pin 3 (receive) on Port2 of DL250CPU is connected to Pin 5 (transmit) on Palm M100. Pin 7 (ground) on Port2 of DL250CPU is connected to Pin 10 (ground) on Palm M100. Pin 4 (ready to send) on Port2 of DL250CPU is connected to Pin 6 (clear to send) on Palm M100. Pin 5 (clear to send) on Port2 of DL250CPU is connected to Pin 4 (ready to send) on Palm M100. I 've exhausted all my ideas and I would greatly appreciate any input. Thanks. Jeremy.

Late last night, I was finally able to get port 1 on the DL250 to acknowledge my DirectNet request but am still unable to get port 2 working. The only thing I can figure is that port 2 isn't configured as a slave because port 1 is always a slave. I 've set the station number to 1 using DirectSoft on port 2. According to the DirectNet manual, any station number between 1 and 90 designates the port to be a slave. Is there another setting I have to change to force port 2 to become a slave?
I could still use some help if any of you have experience in this area. Thanks. Jeremy.

I have a question as oppose to a solution to your posting. I am not familiar to any of the Palm products. My question though is " Are you planning to use this to control the PLC? " I am interested in using a small device like a Palm for data entry into a PLC like the 250 or 05 series. Is is possible?
