I'm having regular communication faults from my PC to my PLC development system. I'm running the latest version of DirectSoft (the 'c ' rev) on a WindowsNT box. I'm communicating via K-Sequence to a DL-250. I often (more than 10 times an hour) lose comms to the processor and have to either click the 'retry ' button or reboot the processor altogether. Needeless to say this has me wondering... Does anyone else have these types of communication problems?

I 've used DirectSoft & NT with K-Sequence on the 250 top port. Check your cabling first, especially if it's long. Also make sure you don't have any other apps running in hte background trying to access the same PC comm port. Remember that with Wonderware & some others you have to shut down the comm driver separately as well as shut down the graphic software.

(Posted to the wrong topic (Jon C.'s) but it's on a similar issue)
I have the same basic issue, DSP3X Divide by zero, and CSMAIN (don't recall the exact text that followed) that occurs during online editing. Dr. Watsons all over the place!!
My box is a Compaq Armada 7400 333Mhz 128meg RAM and 6 Gig HD running NT (SP5)and DirectSoft v3.0C Build 50, talking to a D2-250 with an H2-ECOM. It usually faults when I'm scrolling through rungs in ladder view.
It doesn't seem to care whether there are unsaved edits or not. I tried with and without edits present and it didn't make a difference. Kind of a pain in the butt if you have accepted but not yet saved quite a few rungs, as you have to start all over again. I'm in the habit of saving to PLC and Disk after each rung edit now, which sure does slow down the process of making changes.
The only thing I think is suspect is that I run RSLinx as a service for data collection purposes, but even so, the ethernet comms should handle the traffic (shouldn't it?)
I 've done a lot of programming via K-Sequence with my computer undocked (laptop)
with 250's & 05's and never saw all these errors.
One other thing to note, while on-line via the ECOM, items such as timer accumlated values occasionally "freeze " on the screen, in addition to freezing on a Wonderware display. It will stay frozen for up to 5 seconds before starting again.
Any suggestions?

Had this problem with a 450 CPU (and NT 4.0) and tech support had me maxout retries and timeouts. The problem went away and never came back.
