I just read Russ's post regarding the desire for a macro-like facility to easily add pre-defined blocks of ladder logic to existing programs. This is an excellent idea, one we have considered, but limited by time. Now that Rel 3 DirectSoft32 has been out for a while, what other missing http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/eek.gif feature(s) do you wish you could see in the next release of DirectSoft?

Since bookmarks or tree view doesn't exist, I add a meaningless rung wherever I want a bookmark. Then do Ctrl+F and search for that item, takes you right to it.

I see that bookmarks have already been discussed in 2010. Are they hiding somewhere?

    Anyway, thumbs up to bookmarks.

I would add; I have a ton of room on my Online Toolbar and I'd like to be able to drag a Stage Box or a rung to the Toolbar and have it become a bookmark icon.

If I drag an element to the Toolbar it could become a find-next icon for that element. This is much less important as there is kb shortcut for it, but the icon would retain a particular element rather than change.

There could be a trash icon to drop the ones you are done with or have any icon drug anywhere off the toolbar delete.

    Cool ideas!

Here's a sneak peak of the next version of DirectSOFT, which has a Project Browser that is dockable/floatable and lets you easily browse your Control Logic. Just double click on a Rung or a Stage and the view for that code-block will open and set the cursor to that Rung or Stage (it supports status too - great for Stage programs!).

That looks like an excellent navigation tool. Looking forward to it!

That the single most thing I miss also being used to CX1 (Omron).

I really can't wait, since I program d06's on a weekly basis lately.

I spend so much time scrolling up & down programs finding different portions.

I'm sure that franj1 doesn't want to mislead anyone but that looks like a programming screen for the new CPU (made by Host) only. I don't know if Directsoft for the standard lines is being revised.

I don't know if Directsoft for the standard lines is being revised. Yes, we are still in development - and the set of CPUs and PLC systems are still TBD, but initially there will be two 205 CPUs. There are definite plans to target other PLC systems in addition to 205, but that is TBD.

We are basically developing a "retargetable " Control Engine. We even have a PC Simulator that is almost the identical code that is in our new 205 CPU, but runs under Windows.

You are the Java of PLC codes!

You are the Java of PLC codes! Not quite, more like NT with a HAL targeting multiple hardware platforms. (For you people younger than 35, that's Windows NT running on a DEC Alpha chip vs. an Intel 386/486 with a "Hardware Abstraction Layer " implemented for each, kinda like a JVM, but not really :D).

That's our vision, and currently it's working on 2 completely different hardware platforms.
