I want to know if anybody used DL05 with modem. What kind of modem did you used, and how did you setted it? I downloaded the modem32.doc, and I try with a US_sporster_14400. The modem connect but the plc not responding.

I 've used the DL05 with radio modems, but I'm pretty sure the set-up is just about the same.

Make sure that you can communicate with the PLC without the modem, to check out your Ladder Logic. Then make sure your cable between the DL05 and the modem is correct, if the RTS isn't hooked up right you'll never send any data. Make sure that the Comm. Port 2 settings are the same as the modem settings. If the Baud Rate, Stop Bits, or Parity on the PLC are different than that of the modem you won't send data. And if all checks out, lower the Baud Rate.

I used a DL05 and a DL250 with radio modems and had to lower the Baud Rate to 4800 to get them to work.

    Good Luck

Insure the modem port is set at the same communication rate and parity as the 05 communication port.

The DL-05 works very well with Modems. Getting the modem to answer is the easy part.Setting it up for Directsoft to work with it just requires a few needed settings

    1. Make sure your link settings have the "Timeout " at 2000ms and the "Retry " to Five. This helps with poor connections that can cause large data timouts

    2. Port settings should be 9600,parity None.

    3. As shown in the Modem.doc the Proper init. strings should be loaded to the remote modem.

    4. If the phone line at the remote site is not a dedicated line and is on a PBX Phone System ,then you may sometimes encounter problems.

NOTE:You can call Automationdirect.com Tech support and have them attempt to connect. They even have an office extension that is used for customers to call and try to connect. This allows you to determine if the problem lies in the local modem or remote modem.
