I have recently been trying to find some ways to change data registers in a Click PLC without a PC and without a C-More. The C-More is a great product, but I need to have something mobile. I have found this app made by INUX on the Google Play Store to read/write with Modbus RTU over Bluetooth. http://www.inux.se/products/modbus-master-pro Is it possible to use this Android App and a bluetooth serial converter such as this one recommended by INUX to write values into my data registers? http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Bluetooth-Wireless-Technology-GBS301/dp/B000CPMBO6/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt Seems a little too easy. I did a search in the forums and read one post that led to the fact that it might be possible, but wanted to see if anyone could elaborate before I just go buying stuff. ( http://forum.automationdirect.com/showthread.php?t=4369 &highlight=bluetooth ) Thanks!

Entirely possible using the Serial Port Profile in Bluetooth.

Havent had a chance to test myself, but picked up an IOGEAR Bluetooth to Serial (DB9) adapter.

EDIT: Same one actually, thats funny.

You are a guinea pig! :D

Not yet. It took awhile to get the converter since it is a legacy product. I have only spent about 30 minutes with it. I am going to try next week to see if I can get any type of communication. I will keep you updated.

    to control a DL05 from a Nexus7 (Android)

That is good news and thanks for posting. The problem I was having with the IOGear (other than I have no experience doing this) is that the device would never recognize the PLC. I tried adjusting the baud rates and still could not make any progress. I got sidetracked by other issues with my project and haven't looked at the bluetooth communication for a month or so, but it is still a priority that I need to get figured out. Was connecting with the DL05 painless or was there some bugs you had to work out? Is it a reliable connection or do you have to adjust settings often? My client/end user will have no experience, nor desire, to adjust any kind of communication settings. That is the reason I ask.

    Thanks again.

The UCBT232B requires setting baud rate etc. using TeraTerm or Hyperterm

and the procedure is available in documentation in the device data sheet .

The unit has been reliable and has retained settings
