rodtech35, try to find out (if you can) not only what the customer doesn't want, but what the customer does want (I know sometimes they 're not sure themselves).

    A few ideas:

    - The C-more can be put on network, so the customer can view the C-more screens on his office computer. And the C-more can also be viewed via the internet.

    - Look at the network computer-based data monitoring/logging software package DataWorx, or the web-based package DataNet.

    - Look at computer-based HMI software, LookoutDirect for example.

    - The KepDirect (OPC/DDE) lets 3rd-party software talk to the PLC, Excel for example.

BUT, since you have a 10 " C-more, the easiest/cheapest would be to use the C-more Remote Access feature for network/internet - IF this is what he wants.

    Hope this helps.

    Agreed.

I did a couple data logging systems with the Dataworks (pre c-more days). The biggest problem was the dataworks software had to be running on some other computer that was always on and working in order to grab the data the PLC sent out. If the Dataworks computer wasn't working, the data was lost.

I have 3 more systems with a C-more logging data on a chart, and to CF card#2. From another computer, you can copy files from the CF card (makes a new file each day). You can also set up the C-more to automatically copy the log file to your network each day for back up purposes.

Instead of using "remote access " (I'm assuming you are), instead use the built in web server. Remote access wasn't available when I set up the systems here. If you point your browser at the panel address, there is access to the CF card files. These can then be copied from the card for study.

Once you do this once, you can bookmark the exact link to the CF card, and give that link to your boss. As a quick test here, I had the CF card contents displayed on my desktop, and the panel on the floor looked normal and functioned normal.

    Might work for you,

Thank you Bob I will pass this on but I might just use the FTP server if they want to go that route
