I have a single D4-450 with an H4-ECOM100 card connected through an AD Switch (SE-SW5U). I have two Windows based computers, all are within 10 feet of each other and all have static IP's. Everything has been working perfect and the customer has finally brought in the link to their Ethernet network. Everything worked perfectly prior to connection to their network and after I get a significant number of comm errors. The software we wrote ourselves using the SDK and I think the traffic on the network is relatively light. Computer 1 makes three reads every 10 seconds of about 8 registers each. Computer two reads every 1-minute and reads about 88 registers in a single read. I need to improve our communications on this network. The location is close by and the customer is open to let us do it. Assume all comm parameters for the H4-ECOM100 card to be standard. I am open to hardware solutions, software solutions or any other general advice.

Is the H4-ECOM100 talking to anything else other than the two computers?
Have you looked at the H4-ECOM100 with Netedit3 to see what if any errors are present at the card? Lost packets, retries, etc?

You said you had all the devices set up to use static ip, This would make me think that there could be a two devices with the same address. Or the static ip address is within address pool range that the DHCP uses. Therefor DHCP does not want to play nice. Try removing the link to see if the issue goes away. If it does not the problem would reside in the setup. If it does go away, try to let the DHCP assign the addresses, or reserve them in the server.

Thanks for the response. I am not getting any errors on the network card.
As for the DHCP discussion, you talk of "removing the link ". I don't understand what or where you want removed. Is the link in the DHCP Server?
If we go with Dynamic IP addresses on the equipment and the computers loose the link to the DHCP, then we no longer collect data and are less reliable. Switching to Dynamic IP addresses can be done for a short term test but is not a long term solution.

What meant by remove the link was to physically remove the patch cable that connected your d4 and two pcs to the rest of the Ethernet network. Otherwise be sure to staticly address the d4 and two computers outside of the DHCP address pool range, or (and you may need the IT guys to set this up) use a VLAN for your D4 and Two pcs. Hope this helps a little.
