Error Code 530 when Emailing

Does anyone know what error code 530 "Must issue a STARTTLS command first. Encryption required for requested authentication mechanism " means? I am trying to set up an HOEComm100 to email but I keep getting this error. I'm also getting the error code 11 just like tcross was getting.

Sounds like your SMTP server requires authentication, which the ECOM100 does not do. The ECOM100 just does simple SMTP. Whoever manages your email server, they may be able to help you out. Let them know you have a piece of hardware that does simple SMTP to send emails and if they can set you up to make it work with an ECOM100.

Sounds like in addition to authentication it also requires an encrypted connection; the ECOM100 does neither of these.
If you mail server admin can't help you then you can always setup your own outgoing mail server, just be sure to put it behind a firewall so you don't become a SPAMer's dream.
