Anyone tried to use there cell phone as a modem with DirectSoft 32. I can get a USB cable for my Verizon phone that is Data capable. Not sure if DirectSoft 32 will see it as a modem. Any ideas?

If your PC sees it as a COM serial port or as a Modem, or even as an Ethernet Port, then DirectSOFT will see it. If it shows up as something that is not one of those device types - it will not work.
