I am a little confused about the new cr-hn series radio communication. I want to be able to sit in the office and over our plant LAN system talk to the PLC out on the floor. Has anyone done this yet?

You need to provide more info on exactly what you want to do.
The CR-HN radios are serial radios. The CR-SE radios are ethernet radios.
So if you mean LAN by the traditional sense of the word, I would think that you would want the ethernet radios. But...depending upon what you are wanting to do, you could have one PC that is connected to the serial radios and you could connect to the PC on your LAN by various means.
Are you wanting to program the PLCs over the LAN? Does this mean you want to be able to program from different/any terminal on the LAN? Or do you just want data from the PLCs on the LAN? What software are you planning on using for data collection? I assume that you are talking about connecting to Direct Logic PLCs on the LAN? Etc...

Thanks for replying Jackson, we have to types in the plant. We have wireless and hardwire LAN. It would be nice to be able to stay in the office area and hook up to the PLC and either view or change data using Direct Soft software.
Again we have wireless and hardwire connection to the plant lan system. Wireless would be nice so one doesnt have to pull out cords to hook up. We have several plants tied together through the same LAN. So if one piece of equipment was elsewhere we could hook up ant talk to it without leaving the plant. The radio system AD has sounds like they are seperate units you put in the equipment and a receiver in the office you hook up to. I want something to tie the PLC to the local area lan.

Start off by putting an ECOM in your PLC.
Then get a pair of wireless ethernet radio bridges (CR-SEH or CR-SEHX).
One brige connects to the PLC, the other connects to your wired LAN.
I'm assuming that your wireless LAN and wired LAN are connected. If so what type of wireless LAN are you currently using? If it's 802.11 a/b/g then there are cheaper (but not as reliable) solutions as well.

Finally got it all sorted out. After talking to a tech from AD all I need are ECOM cards in the PLC I want to talk to from a remote location. Wire each PLC to a hub then to a dedicated computer which is shared to the LAN. This dedicated computer can be accesed from any computer in our plant including a remote plant. All our plants are on the LAN. This is far more cheaper than spending thousands on radios. Hope this helps others.
