I need to modify a program for an existing DL405 system that's overseas. I need to setup port 3 (or 1) for Modbus communications (Slave) and send the modified program to be downloaded to the PLC on site. The "Setup Sec. Comm Port " option in the DirectSOFT software is greyed out. Do I have to be online to be able to configure a port? If so, can I do it through the ladder logic? I found an Application Note (AN-D2-002) that says I can. It lists Port 1 for the 450 PLC. The example given is not explained so I can make sure I'm enterpreting it correctly. I have decyphere the BCD numbers and I guess it makes sense. Has anybody done this before? Are the V registers given in the example correct for Port 1 and only Port 1 is available? Any ideas, hints or clues? Thanks.
