305 ethernet communications

Is there a reason there is no ethernet communications module for the 305 series PLC? If there are no hardware limitations, when might we see a H3-ECOM module? I could live with it only being able to function with a 350 CPU. In the meantime, has anyone worked around this? What's my best bet? Slap a DL05 onto the panel to connect to the ethernet and use its serial port to communicate with the DL350?

The 305 backplane hardware does not support intelligent modules very well (330/340 limitations and speed issues).
HOWEVER, from a cost standpoint, buy a $99 05 and an H0-ECOM for another $169, that's just $268 - not bad for an "H3-ECOM "!!
Port 2 on the 05 can master to a slave 330/340/350 via DirectNet protocol using RX/WX instructions in the 05. The 330 would require a DCU module (if you didn't already have one), but the 340 and 350 have built in DirectNet slave support!
Sounds like a good solution to me!?!

Yes, that sounds like an acceptable workaround. Thanks!
