I want to be able to have my 350CPU be a master for a 340CPU that is located 250 feet away. All ports on both CPU's are free. Can this be done with out a DCM? Can it be done at all? Thank you.

Yes, you can do this. You would have to use a RS232/422 converter on the 340 side, since it doesn't have 422 built in like the 350.
I would use DirectNet as the protocol (even though you can use MODBUS RTU as well). The conversions between the data types will be easier. Look at the DirectNet manual and there is a conversion chart on page E-18.
