This is my first time setting up a VFD. I am rewiring a lathe and need some clarification on the jog functionality of the GS2. Firstly, the forward/reverse mechanical lever of the lathe for normal operation actuates a separate switch for each direction. I intended to wire each of these switches to DI1 and DI2 with P3.01 set to 00. This establishes a Forward/Stop Reverse/Stop configuration. Secondly, I would like to add both forward and reverse jogging with a three-position momentary selector switch (like AR30WR-120BZC ). If I understand the manual I would need to set one of the multi-function terminals (DI3 - DI6) to 09 (Jog) and wire both the forward and reverse sides of the selector switch to this input to activate "JOG " mode, plus add a second set of contacts to the switch and wire those to the DI2 REV/FWD input to command which direction the jog should happen. However, that is in conflict with my intent to set P3.01 as stated above. My questions are: Is my understanding as outlined above correct? Is there an approach to retain the Forward/Stop Reverse/Stop configuration and add two-direction jog? Or do I need to reconfigure the normal operation lever switches into a Run/Stop Fwd/Rev configuration (P3.01 set to 01) in order to allow the jog switch access to the direction toggle (DI2)? If there is documentation outlining this please provide the link. Thanks in advance. DC

It looks to me like that is probably the only option

You could set it for Run/Stop + FWD/REV config and then instead of having your lathe arm microswitches run directly to inputs, you should run them to relays. Have the FWD microswitch enable the relay connected to DI1. Your REV microswitch turn on that same relay for DI1, and a relay for DI2. This will let you keep the switches you currently have installed which can be a huge pain to replace, and let you use the jog functionality in both directions as well. Have your jog switch turn on relay 2 for DI2.
