Hi: I bought the above unit for use on a small lathe. I'm not sure if it is even working. My question is, if voltage is going in should I be able to get a reading on the load side ? The lights come on and it " hums ", but if I put a volt meter on the output I get nothing. Can someone please help . Thank you, Joe

I cannot tell from your description if you have done any programming. If you have not it is possible to run the VFD from the key pad. Again from the description I cannot tell if you "started " the VFD with a single press of the "run stop " button. The third thing I cannot tell from your description is if there was a change on the LED display when you were testing.

Hi: Thank you for getting back to me. Yes I did press that button and every other control, in an effort to get some response. The letter H comes on when power is applied, and 0.0. That's all. As you can tell I am ignorant as to things electrical. I bought the unit on E-bay, it came packaged properly and was sold as new. From watching you tube, I thought I could connect all the wires and start using the lathe. I guess not. I have the book, but it may as well be Greek, because I don't know what they are talking about. I have a 3 phase motor, but I don't know if it works. I hooked it up to that and got no response. That led me to checking if it was putting out voltage. That's about all. Again, thanks for getting back to me. Joe

Ok! At this point (after power up) I need you to look at the run, fwd, rev, and stop text on the face. There should be a small red LED lit by the stop text.

Press the "run stop " button, the LED next to the "stop " text should turn off and the LED by the "run " text should turn on.

Now turn the Potentiometer knob up. Does the H 0.0 change?

If it does not change there may have been some programming done previously.

If this is the case, We may need to "return to default programming ".

Press the PROG/ENTER key to enter program mode. Only the parameter

    groups will be displayed.

Use the UP/DOWN keys to cycle through the available parameter

groups. Press the PROG/ENTER key to select the desired parameter

group. We are wanting to get to P9 then press the prog/enter again to get inside the P9.00 group. Then press the up or down arrow buttons until we get to P9.08, press prog/enter. Setting 99 restores all parameters to factory defaults. Press prog/enter again, then display/reset untill you get out of programming mode.

At this point try to get the VFD into run mode and report back.

Hi Vaughn: Well, it worked. Had to go back to factory settings. I can't thank you enough, now I don't have to send it back. I'll have to read how to reverse it, and should I put a switch between the supply and the unit in order to turn it off completely ? Thank you Vaughn, Joe

Putting a disconnect at the lathe is a good idea, for safety reasons. It will also save some energy when you are not using the lathe.

I'll have to read how to reverse it,

To save you from having to change parameters, if you switch the wires of any 2 of the 3 phases going to your motor, the 3 phase motor will run the other direction.
