I came across Gsoft. Nifty concept. Loaded the demo on my laptop, went to the nearest vfd and jacked in. Does not support this model. Got 10496 and a -.712 for model numbers on that screen. I tried 3 more to the same effect. I will pull up what firmware they have today, but if the firmware is too old, can i update that? If so, how? Thx edit: firmware 1.06. all GS2's edit: current gsoft on site, v3.7.2

    Can't talk to G3's either

We encountered the same problem. We can hook up to a GS2 drive and talk but we can't talk to a G3 Dura Pulse drive. We do have the converter to talk to the G3's but we still get the same error message of not being able to find the drive.

The GSoft version we have is V3.7.2

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Don

    Correction

We get the same error message that you get when we try to upload the settings from the VFD. We were hoping someone had the answer to this problem.

Guess it is time to email Automation Direct for an answer.

    Thanks,

    Tech Support?

This is what I emailed the tech support: "We have the GSoft software and GS3 drives and are trying to connect to them and talk to them via laptop.

We have a FA-ISOCON network adapter. We have tried several differant things but we can not connect to the drives. Keeps telling us "drive not support ".

We have checked and double checked the cables and pin outs from the laptop to the FA-ISOCON and from that to the drive.

We left a thread on the Tech Forum and a rep from Automation Direct posted a notice for us to contact you.

We can use the GSoft software and talk to our GS2 drives with no problem.

We are not the only ones having this problem.

    Thank you. "

Would be very helpful if Tech support could post the answer here to this problem IMHO.:)

I recently took note of yet another firmware version for my Durapulse drives. Some years ago, I decided to standardize on the GS3-4030 and have about ten of them so far. Unfortunately, I too have found the G-soft to be something close to useless.

Additionally, because each of my units seems to come with a new firmware (ok, I'm exaggerating, I think have have three different ones) I can't use the keypad transfer functionality.

Even if I can't use G-soft to update the firmware, and I can't understand why I wouldn't be able to, I would gladly purchase the chip on which the firmware resides just to make all of mine compatible.

Please, in a world where cheap routers and consumer appliances all have upgradeable firmware, why don't these?!!!
