I'm installing temperature sensors in three freezers. To get to negative numbers, I'm using RTD sensors. The ones with the M12 connector built in look like they would provide the neatest installation. I'd like to patch each sensor into a bulkhead connector mounted on the wall. The sensor is M12 with 4 conductors. The bulkhead connectors only come in 5 and 8 conductor. I can't find any spec sheet that gives the pin circle diameter or compatibility for any of the M12 connectors. So I have questions. 1) will a 4 pin male M12 connector fit into a 5 pin female connector? 2) will a 5 pin male M12 connector fit into a 4 pin female connector? 3) do both the 4 and 5 pin versions use the same plastic inserts? The RTD0100-06-010-H 3-wire sensor has a 4-wire plug (male?). The picture of the TTD-20-N40160F-H transmitter (RTD to 4-20ma) looks like it has a 5 pin female for the input side yet claims to be a 4 pin solution. The output for a 4-20ma uses only two (or three) wires of the 4 pole connector. There's no picture of the output end of the transmitter. Ugh. The IEC 61076-2-101 standard seems to apply to these connectors but there are so many different ones it's hard to know which varieties are sold by AD and which are compatible with each other. Answers or reference pointers would be appreciated. Thanks. Roger
