Hi I am having trouble with the Click Programming Software crashing while I am connected to the PLC. It always happens with the status monitor on and while scrolling through the ladder. I am using a Windows XP laptop, no antivirus or firewall and the EA-MG-PGM-CBL USB adapter. Also using CPU port 1 with default settings. Tried all the usual uninstall, reinstall, delete com port etc. Is there any trick I'm missing? Thanks

I'm also using a laptop when this happens.
Sometimes you can go into Task Manager and kill a process call KEcomsvr (or something like that) and you can get going again without a reboot. Other times the process just won't quit and rebooting is my only way out.

Question? Have to ask.
When installing Click software did you install the Koyo USB Serial Driver?
If you didn't, unplug the Click PLC and other USB devices and install Koyo USB Serial Driver. Then reboot, plug-in the Click PLC and New Device should come-up.
If you are using the serial port and not the USB then Koyo USB Serial Driver is not needed, but still does not hurt to install it.

The Koyo USB serial driver is installed. In fact I can use the EA-MG-PGM-CBL USB adapter to communicate with a DL06 using Directsoft with no problems. Now that link runs at 9600 baud so I 've tried slowing the Click link to 9600 but the result was still the same: crashes while scrolling the ladder with the status monitor on.

Have you tried updating your mouse driver?

usb battery saving
Check your battery saving options in windows. I had similar issues with the click software. this article explains http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-xp-tips/prevent-windows-from-powering-off-usb-device/

I 've had the same issue, I get a popup saying that click programming software has encountered an error and needs to close, using the serial cable (D2-DSCBL). I 've spoken with tech support to no avail. When it happens I go into my task manager, kill KEcommserver.exe, and open it back up. Sometimes it works for a while and sometimes it happens again almost instantly.
My power options are set to never turn anything off when on AC power, so I don't think thats the problem.

You may need to change the USB-2-Serial device settings. Goto the computer Device Manager and open the USB-to-Serial device under Ports. Click on Port Settings and verify the settings. Next click on the Advance button under the Port Settings tab. This should bring up a new window showing FIFO Buffers. If the Use FIFO is on and the settings are set to High then start moving the slider toward the Lower setting one notch at a time. If this does not help the disable the FIFO see if it works. If still having problems, change the COM port number to a higher COM port number like COM10. I suggest changing the port number as COMs 1-4 have a BIOS interrupt attached to them and it could be this BIOS interrupt that is causing the crash. Sometimes BIOS updates fix problems too. This will help to eliminate computer hardware problems if 1.40 still crashes.

I'm not using the USB to Serial device. I'm using a true serial port and it still crashes, occasionally, but only when monitoring the program.
I had another issue last week...I was online with the PLC using the USB to Serial device and my computer "blue screened " on me, 3 times. I went to the serial cable and it didn't do it anymore. I have since used the usb to serial adapter with a PLC in my office and didn't have any problems.
