The Company I Currently Work for Uses AB Products "ONLY " , and i 've used AB rockwell Software for 9 Years, i personally cannot see Justification on a Control Senario where the End User is spending 15k to 25k on a AB RACK PLC system that is only turning on a few Valves, and pumps, my question is can i Connect the Click PLC into a Ethernet network, "serial to ethernet gateway? " and what are others using to do this, thanks guys

I haven't used the Click, but I do use serial servers to get non-ethernet devices attached to the network.
B&B Electronics products have worked well for my applications.
My two cents and five bucks will get you a small Starbucks!

I am currently using a MOXA Mgate MB3480 (it's a 4 port gateway) to act as a Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP gateway to tie a Click PLC to a Modbus TCP network and it works flawlessly. Any serial port on the MB3480 can be programmed as either master or slave but the MB3480 will not work if you tie in a serial master in one port trying to communicate to a serial slave on a different port of that unit.
Hope this helps.

CrashBeta, you can also use the DL05 or DL06 PLCs with ECOM modules for Ethernet communications.

Serial Comm with Click PLC
Just an FYI I have found a 100% repeatable bug in the Click PLC. If the Receive port gets over ran with data or noise it will lock up witht the SC100 flag showing that the port is always ready to transmit data. Problem is the port is locked up and won't send or receive data until the PLC is reset to factory defaults and the plc reloaded. This seems to be common on ADC plc's since it has happened on every unit I have used except the 450 CPU.

Thank you for the heads up Mike. We are working on duplicating this now and will let you know what we find.

I agree with Kristjan H.
Just use a PLC series that already includes an ethernet option card/module.
The Click is very promising, but is very limited at this time with ONLY discrete I/O options.
Also, to those considering the Click it does not have a battery backup yet. So, volatile memory is retained only by a super capacitor. When the capacitor discharges the volatile memory is gone. The Click has a button battery tray much like the type found on the DL06 series, but it is not functional. In my opinion, AD should not have launched the Click until battery backup was a feature. Most folks out there are going to have some form of volatile memory needs, even for the most basic setups. On a rack setup capable of such a large amount of discrete I/O, it should have a functional battery backup as standard equipment.
Basically, if the PLC is left unpowered for more than several days or so, the memory will be lost. Logic will remain, data memory will be lost. And for this reason alone, I am not able to implement the Click in my equipment. It's very promising and I await more options to evolve so I can begin using them!

i often use cheap serial ethernet converter like this one http://www.startech.com/item/NETRS232_1-1-Port-RS-232-Serial-Ethernet-Adapter.aspx
and it works correctly
