When I have a project open and am done editing it. I save it and then go to the open folders to open another project I wish to edit. It is a previous project that I just got done editing and need to revise something. I click the project to edit it and the software closes. I go to re-open the software and it is defaulted to the start new project screen. I previously had unchecked the "always display this dialog when starting C-more software." and the browse location is also defaulted. The software acts like it is the first time I opened it. It also clears the edit history under the file toolbar icon. I can go ahead and get back to my project and open it and everything seems fine.
The funny thing is it is not consistent. Most times I can save and go to the next project for editing, but every once in a while it does this. At first I thought it was a one time glitch, but I have had this happen 4 times today. Windows 10 laptop. Have not been editing on my Windows 7 laptop so do not know if that is the same issue.
Sorry here you are experiencing this.
I am saw the "Always display dialog..." also even though I unchecked that box. After open several projects and closing, I do not see it anymore. I also saw where the File open did not show the last two projects I opened, but it is not doing that anymore either. I think it had to do with how I was opening the files; from the Start Window. But I can't be sure now.
I don't think this is related to the crash though.
When you "click the project to edit it" and the software closes, what are you clicking typically? On an Object, changing screens, something in the menu?
Is it always with the same project you mentioned when it crashes?
More information will help us duplicate it.
Here is how I get the software to close consistently:
Open a project, edit something, save the project, go to file open icon (not the pull-down menu or history links) and open a different project. The software seems like it is reading the project file and then closes. I re-open the software and I can go to the open icon and open the project. I also seem to have stopped getting the default screen. I can then edit this project, save it and go to the open file icon, select another project and the software closes.
This is very annoying to have to keep re-opening the software when I simply want to edit several projects. I should note that these projects are all named the same except I define the size screen. For example: "Dual 4 + 2 SS NI EA9-10 rev 1D.eap9" or "Dual 4 + 2 SS NI EA9-7 rev 1D.eap9". But I also tried this sequence going to other projects named "Dual servo core controller EA9-12C rev 1A.eap9". Then for giggles I went to a project named "Railroad test.eap" (EA7 panel project made in version 2.78 SP2) and the version 6.6 closes. What am I missing? Is this a software bug?
Sounds like a bug, but we have it be able to duplicate it.
Have you rebooted the PC to see if the problem goes away. Also, try and see if it happens with no other software running on the PC. Just reboot, and start using the C-more software.
Are you pulling the projects from a network drive or pen drive?
Again these should not be an issue, but they may help us figure out why it's happening.
This morning I re-started my laptop and the bug seems to have gone away. Or so I thought. About 2 hours into project edits, this same thing started happening. I even tried to open multiple sessions of C-More so I could move between the projects. But as soon as I go to open a different project from any one of the open sessions, the software closes for that session (the other sessions stay open). I am going to transfer my latest files onto my Windows 7 laptop and edit on this laptop to see if it occurs with this OS. It seems that as I open and close projects a lot in a session, this bug appears. Seems like the program loses track of the file path and then closes when trying to open an existing project. So far it has not corrupted any project or lost any files. I just have to re-start the program often???
I have now been editing on my Windows 7 laptop with the C-more 6.6 version for three hours and have not had any issues? I have opened multiple projects and never had the software close. Might be Windows 10 thing or my laptop specifically. The laptop is less than 6 months old. Dell Precision 5540 using the docking port. Using the C-more on the bigger screen attached to the docking station.
If you could post a video capture of your screen when this is happening we'd be able to make sure we are duplicating your exact process.
Any idea how many times you are opening, editing, saving,opening projects before this occurs?
It seems it was my computer? It has magically disappeared and is no longer doing this. I blame Bill Gates.
I apologize. I meant to post here that we released v6.61. There was an exception error we found under the hood that may fix this issue in 6.61. But since we could not duplicate it it is hard to say if we fixed the issue you were seeing. Please keep us up to date if you have anymore issues and give 6.61 a try if you do still have problems with the software crashing..
