The short answer is that yes, as of Do-more 1.1, Gmail can be made to work. It is a two step process of registering an IP with Google, then using the new DNSLOOKUP instruction to resolve a special port 25 URL to the server. Not terribly difficult, but it is pretty specific. Once set up, it is simple and automatic.
We are going to write up the details and will post it here.

Ok but how about for those of us that dont have a server? Thats why I want to use Gmail. Im on Comcast with a dynamic IP. I cant believe how difficult it is to send a email, darn SSL.

Those instructions *are* for Gmail. If that isn't an option there are some products that can relay email between non-secured port 25 connections and secured servers like Gmail.

But those services cost money or you have to have a PC running which is another link in the chain that may fail.

Only offering it as a alternative to Gmail. We use Gmail...with their server, not ours...and it works fine using the directions provided.

But you have that SPF record in your server for Host?

It exists somewhere, but I don't think we are hosting the DNS. I assume our service provider is, although we do host some of our own servers so I guess it is possible we are.

The SPF record typically should hold the IP address of the router/modem that is connected to the internet. This means you need a static IP from your provider.

That's why this will not work for a lot of us. I guess we are stuck with running a program or paying for a service.

I set this up in my DoMore this morning, and it works.
I'm not sure why it won't work for you.
Don't worry about the SPF record for now, that is just for the junk mail filters. After testing, you should find the email when you go to the left column of gmail down below the inbox and click "more " and then "All Mail " and your email will be there. Google will then give you instructions for getting the mail from that address into your inbox.
