Pertinent info from 2:40 to 3:30 mark

Can't find much on the SR-1000. There is an EDS file for teh SR-750, but I am not registered on Keyence so can't download.

I actually have a project where i am going to be using several SR-1000W bar code scanners. there is an EDS you can download from there web sight and with the manual it doesn't look that difficult at all.

it doesn't look like the tags will import and set up everything as nicely as they set it up for Allen Bradley controllogix platform but it should be entirely workable with out it. i am going to E-mail my contact at Keyence and see if they can make a CSV for the productivity series. I don't think it should be all that hard for them to do

I had a bit of spare time. it wasn't hard at all to make a tag import CSV for the productivity series.

I made sure to set up the IO words and expand to bit level the correct words. Export the tags and then open it up in a spread sheet program. Open up Keyences tag spread sheet and copy the comments to the correct bits and words. (Remember Allen Bradley starts arrays at 0 and the productivity series starts at 1)

I ended up not going with the Keyence bar code reader and went with an IFM O2I502. The keyence scanners are a bit easier to set up but the price point on the IFM scanners are better

Did you call the Keyence rep and see if he could do any better? We have literally had vision system pricing drop in half when someone whispered Cognex in the background.

So, my takeaway here is : the REAL price is what they can milk you for.

They offered to match the price of the IFM bar code reader which was less than half. We have been bitten with that game before from other vendors. Maybe the first time or two we get the extraordinary price enough to become the standard in the application then when we go to order more the price goes back to original and we are stuck.

Exactly - they pull this all the time here in my area (Upstate NY)
