I need a small HMI, the EA3-T4CL, to be placed at some distance away from several PLC's with which it will interact over a local ethernet network. It will be mounted/freestanding on a desk so that a supervisor can modify production goals in real time.

I have used small consolet type enclosures, such as the WC08C08, for housing HMI's in the past but it seems a little large for this particular model. Does anyone have experience with mounting a small HMI such as this in its own enclosure? Particularly, I'm interested in one with a small footprint as desk space may become a commodity.

I have used Altech plastic enclosure 105-911 (Allied Electronics #70074466) for 6 " panels (EA9-T6CL). It has metric knockouts around the sides and has a fairly small footprint (especially if you stand it upright). I had used the knockouts with 22mm pushbuttons as well as cord grips. I also bolted magnets on the back side to attach it to metal panels, as well.

You can look on Allied's catalog page for that part number, it can show you more sizes. If the office is fairly well-controlled temperatures, you should not have problems.
