The only way that I know is to 'approximate ' transparency by making the numeric display object back color the same as the 'container ' object color.
This does not account for other items/text/graphics showing through the numeric display object.

I 've gotten around this by printing the number to a string, and displaying the string on the HMI with transparency.
As to why numeric displays are the only type that can't be made transparent, that's anyone's guess...

Can you explain what you are doing. I tried the numeric display object and numeric enter and there are options for transparency for both. What exactly are you seeing or not seeing?

Please identify the transparency option. It may be easier for you to explain how to do it than for the rest of us to explain how we don't see it.

a agnone,
I am trying to do exactly what I was asking how to do. That is make a Numeric display object to be transparent. Just like you can make a static Text object (as well as other objects) TRANSPARENT. In other words, back color of the object is the same color as the object under it. I cannot use the color palette because my background color is not in the color palette (it is taken from a bit map).
Can you explain how you made your "Numeric Display " to be transparent? (besides setting its back color to your background color?)
Thanks.

My bad, i miss understood. Invisibility vs transparent. You want it to be transparent like you do for example with text, just show the text (number) with no background. You can not do that with numeric display. But I like the idea. Maybe that could be an added feature.

Frontier seems to have found a decent workaround

To be quite honest I never thought to have it transparent. I always use it and need to label what it is for. I could see if you need to display a number on top of something else for display. Display a number in transparent mode without labeling it does not work for me.
