I see I can not power the EA3-T6CL through the serial port only. Where as the EA1-S6MLW can. Is it because of the wattage difference? the EA3 draws 7.5W vs the EA1 draws 6.5W. I did not know this until I tried to install the EA3 and it did not power up. I spent a couple hours on programming to find out it did not power up through the serial port. I had this idea of using a 6 " micro as a setup HMI. The setup person can not view the HMI on the panel and do a machine setup. So I was going to use a portable HMI on a serial cord. The simply plug the HMI into the bulk mounted serial jack, which is connected to the Do-More. This would give them a screen they could view as they do a setup. I know, why did I mount he HMI where they could not view it. The design, function, and layout did not allow it. It takes two people to setup, not a big deal. I will switch out to the EA1-S6MLW. Will the EA1-T6CL power up from the serial? I did not check that out yet.

The EA3-T6CL is the same as the EA1-T6CL. They can both be powered through the USB programming port (Low Power mode). The EA1-T6CL does not have an RJ-12 connection, so there is no way to power it like the EA1-S3MLW through this port.

The EA1-S6MLW when powered through the RJ-12 port by the PLC is considered to be in Low Power Mode. In this mode it only requires 1.05W. You are correct, the EA3-T6CL needs more power than this to operate. When it is powered through the USB port it requires 2W.
