Good afternoon, Working on locking out operators from pressing buttons on the C-more while specific processes are running. Wanted to check with the community and see the recommended method of accomplishing this. When C1 has a value of on disable C3-10 from changing via the C-more touch panel. Thank you.

Nothing specific to disabling the actions of buttons.

However, you can change the visibility - which effectively disables the buttons.

Your plc code can ignore the change of the button tag.

I would put a rectangle with text (same text as button) UNDER the button, then make the button not visible using C1. This would give the 'appearance ' of a disabled button.

I'm sure there are other ways to do this, but I have handled this via PLC logic, or as kewakl said, by hiding the button in some way. Make the object not visible during the underway event, or overlay it with another object, that is only visible during the underway event.

If you OVERLAY an object ON TOP of the button, the OVERLAYED object must intercept the button press for that area, or the 'press ' will push through to the button.

I wasn't aware of this. Just tested one that I use and you are exactly correct. In my case it doesn't matter because the action that the button controls is underway, and pushing through doesn't change that. I can see where this method would be a problem though.

What is the best way to intercept the button press? Still new to the system.

    Thank you for your help!

My opinion is to use the visibility of the button rather than putting a rectangle in front of it. Also, make some text visible when the button is invisible. The text should say that the buttons are disabled. To save nuisance calls to maintenance when the operators realize that the buttons aren't available.

That's very much how I suggested in my first post.

I like this method because 'most ' of us are accustomed to equating a grayed field to mean disabled/unavailable.
