I have a Cmore on the bench that I'm programming for a project. It's plugged into a TP-Link router which is mostly "default " as for regular home use. The router DHCP server range is 192.168.1.100 thru 199 When I set the Cmore (internally, no changes to router) to fixed IP of 192.168.1.102, it shows on the router table and I can put the IP into my browser (from within the same LAN) and the Cmore web interface comes up, upload project, etc. all seems to work but the Cmore will NOT send emails - I get a RTE-041 error. There are only 2 other devices connected to the router, and they are accounted for on the router table, so I don't think its an address conflict. If I set the Cmore to auto-DHCP then it is usually assigned 192.168.1.101, and everything works including email. What gives? Eventually I will need the Cmore on a fixed LAN IP, so I want to understand what's going on here.

Restart your router to be sure that the arp table is not getting corrupted, and also, don't manually assign an ip address that is in the dhcp range.

Wow that was a fast reply thanks.
Have been rebooting router with every change. (When I change the Cmore over to auto-DHCP, it works instantaneously though).
I 've tried several IP's above, inside, and below the DHCP range - all work for all ports EXCEPT sending email.
Granted, this could be a router problem but other devices on LAN fixed IP don't have trouble sending email using the same account and port (465).
Keep in mind I'm connecting to Cmore from within the same LAN so while I say that all the other functions work, it could be Cmore is not getting through to WAN at all unless on DHCP (although other devices work). However, it is clearly on the network and recognized by the router and it's R/T stats do update so I don't think I'm seeing old info.

I figured out that in Touch Panel Network -> DNS tab must be set in order for it to work, in my case 8.8.8.8 and it works. Apparently DNS "automatically " is inactivated when auto-DHCP is de-activated.

This is still an issue. You can't send email or upload to a FTP server if you manually enter an IP address for the panel.

Do you have a valid Gateway and DNS address(es) entered into the C-more?

Yes. I setup the panel with a static IP at the panel and with the software. After finding this thread I setup a reservation on our DHCP server and deleted the static ip from the panel and it worked instantly.

I configured a new panel again today and spent the last hour trying to get the email feature to work. I went through several email addresses and passwords as well as every method of authentication. Then I found this post via google and took my own advice and removed the static IP from the panel by accessing the service menus from the panel itself. As soon as I set the IP via a DHCP reservation everything worked.
Maybe next time I will remember, or it will be fixed.

I have several panels in the field that have a static IP and send email. Do you have the DNS fields setup as suggested by plcnut in post 6?

When I started I only set the IP address, subnet and gateway on the panel using the system menus. You cannot send email or use FTP that way.
Last night I set the panel to use DHCP at the panel using the system menus. I setup a DHCP reservation so it would always have the same IP. I did not adjust the settings in Panel Network in the c-more software, no DNS servers were specified but email and FTP work
Just now I set a static IP in the c-more software and specified the DNS servers and I was able to send email.
I haven't tried every possible variation of this to see what does and doesn't work but it seems like trying to set the IP info on the panel itself is problematic.
