Hey Gang! , I'm brand spankin new to this forum. I have a lighting control project to work on/bid, one of the requirements of the job is to have at least 2 points of control for different lighting scenes. I 've seen all kinds of info on one HMI to multiple PLCs, but not the other way around, before I step on my own =......... nose, has anyone ever done this, heard of it, or know if it's possible? If I understand correctly, RS-485 won't work because the CMore panel has to be the master, and there can be only one master? Ok, 5 minutes later, I realized I may have posted this in the wrong place, I guess it's a mixed question, about HMIs and communications........

Its a lot easier to have multiple HMIs communicating with a single PLC when you use Ethernet communications. When you use serial communications each HMI requires a separate port on the PLC.

Even if the PLC does not support Ethernet, it may still be possible to connect two (full version) C-Mores via Ethernet and then connect one of them to the PLC via RS485/232, the second C-More would "connect through another panel ". However, I haven't actually tried that.

As far as have I heard of it?, it is right there in the panel manager, if one selects (under Ethernet port) "connection through another panel " the illustration shows two panels and one PLC, so it must be a thing people do.

The traditional method for multiple HMI's talking to one PLC is that one HMI is primary, and any others daisy chain from that one. As noted by other posters, though, multiple HMI's on Ethernet typically works fine. (Have never done this with C-More, but the principle should still apply)

I know for a fact 5 C-Mores to 1 D2-260 via Ethernet module works fine. No problems in the last 5 years. :D
