Hello, Thanks in advance to all. This forum along with AD's reasonably priced controllers has enabled me to offer my customers solutions that were not economically feasible just a few years ago, Bravo. I have been able to use PLC controls in several residential solar hydronic systems where proprietary controllers just didn't quite fit the bill. I am working with a Do more T1K-DM1 and an EA1-T6CL in a Concrete Batch Plant. These are currently connected with a EA-2CBL. I wish to relocate the HMI about 100 ' away from the PLC. I purchased a FA-ISOCON and an EA-COMCON-3. I connected the two with a two wire shielded cable using a diagram in the HMI manual. It seems to work fine. I just don't understand the termination resistor that is mentioned in some of the instructions, do I need one? Also the only DIP switches a have in the on position are the two 1/2 DPX ones. Do I turn on any others? This is the first time I have ever worked with 485 and a, ISCOCON device. Just want the installation to be as reliable as possible.

If it is working then you are probably done. Usually communications is either working or not for RS-485. It is a fairly solid communications standard.
The termination resistor is for damping reflections from impedance mismatch at each end of the cable. Both the C-more and the ISOCON have built in resistors for this purpose. If you followed the directions in the hardware manual, you probably already have these in place at least on the C-more side. The resistor dipswitch for the ISOCON is called "Terminate " and is in place when the Terminate dipswitch is in the down position. The resistors are not always needed especially on short cable runs.
