Yet another AB issue )-;. I have a PLC-5 talking to a EA9-15 on COM 1 and it works perfectly. Because we have not yet completed network migration, I need to also talk to a SLC 5/04 that I can't move to ENET yet (we 're using BOTH the DH+ and DH-485 ports on the SLC). Anyhow, I thought it would be simple to connect an AIC+ to the DH-485 network and then use the EA-9's COM 3 port to communicate. The software won't let me select an AB driver on COM 3, however..... ARRGGHHH! Has anyone successfully used port 1 with another port for 'dual ' Allen Bradley connections... or does anyone have other ideas on how I can accomplish this? Thanks for any help...

Your post implies that this is an Allen-Bradley issue -- it is an AutomationDirect hardware limitation/design choice.
The spec sheet shows the following for all (current) EA9 (except the EA9-T6CL-R -- which does not have Port 3)
Serial Port 1 ---- 15-pin D-sub female - RS232C, RS-422/485
Serial Port 2 ---- 3-wire terminal block - RS-485
Serial Port 3 ---- RJ-12 modular jack - RS-232C

Ea9 com3 -
COM3 only supports AutomationDirect PLC protocols and Modbus RTU at this time.
COM2 supports does A-B DH485.
