Did the response time turn out to be unacceptable with that technique? I don't have a 3 " so I can't try it myself.

EDIT; a couple other ideas, it looks to me like one could get say, 18 usable buttons on one screen, how about splitting up the "keyboard " over two or three screens . Might take a fair bit of code on the PLC to build the final string from 37 or more individual buttons, (probably triggering C registers) but should be possible.

With some PLC programing could do it with say, 10 buttons, but 4448 96665553 2233 2 7244466 still, before the iPhone people did that a lot.

I checked into the multiple pages of letters , it took 2 pages, I just thought maybe someone had come up with something new sense my last post
