I raise turkeys in 500 ' long buildings. In most buildings, I have a control room on one end and exhaust fans on the other. The buildings are controlled with a proprietary control system and I'm interested in logging remote accessing more data from the buildings. The serial would be connected to an mbgateway and then through ethernet to a single cmore display in my office. The most affordable plan I 've come up with is a click mounted on each end and rs485 connecting them. I would be interested in placing some temp probes in the middle for the right price. I dont need an actual temp controller, just something that a cmore could poll to get the data. It needs to be water proof. I 've considered using zigbee. It appears I could build sensors for that somewhat cheap, but I think the box to get it back to modbus would be $400 a building. Any ideas?

I have 7 of these in my house talking Modbus RTU to a DL260. You can order factory direct for about $70. Make sure you specify that you need the Modbus functionality when ordering as it is a special firmware option. Also request the Modbus Addendum PDF that lists all the Modbus registers. (sorry not waterproof but for the price you could put it an some sort of enclosure)

I ordered one and I also bought one for $100 that included C02 in it. I will see how they work and report back.
