We have two 15 " screens that lock up and stops responding and we have to power them down and back up to get it to start working again. These screens run 24/7 anyone else have this isssue????

1. How are the screens powered? EA-AC or separate power supply?
2. Is the ground terminal hooked up?
3. Are they using serial or Ethernet to communicate to the PLC?
4. Are they connected to the Internet?
5. What version firmware are they running? (You can find this by holding the upper left corner for ten seconds and going to the information menu)

1. How are the screens powered? EA-AC or separate power supply?..... BY A 24VDC POWER SUPPLY THAT IS SHARED.
2. Is the ground terminal hooked up?.... WE ALWAYS GROUND
3. Are they using serial or Ethernet to communicate to the PLC?...SERIAL
4. Are they connected to the Internet?....NOPE
5. What version firmware are they running? VER 2.77
These screens have some age on them, but we also expericence this even on newer screens.
Thanks

Try running the screen on a dedicated 24VDC 1.5A power supply.
Typically when we see screens that are running on shared power supplies that have this sort of issue, there is either noise or unsuppressed inductive spiking from coils, relays or contactors that is affecting the incoming power to the screen.

Thanks,
We will add a seperate power supply and see how it goes.

Same problems with screens freezing up
I have 4 - 15 Inch screens that freeze up constantly.
They each have a dedicated 24VDC power supply.
They are each grounded.
They are all hooked thru ethernet.
They don't have internet access.
They all will start to respond slower and then freeze up.
Removing the trends and string tags helped some but still having to reset them.
I also install a 6 " backup C-more next to one of the 15 ". I have to reset the 15 " 10 times before you have to reset the 6 ".

Just to double check, when you say "dedicated 24VDC power supply " you are NOT speaking of an EA-AC power adapter, correct? The early models of the EA-AC were more susceptible to noise than the present unit.
I assume you are running different projects in the 6 " and 15 " panels because of the area on the screen. This can have a huge impact.
Are they both installed exactly the same? Same ground, sound power, same communications, same PLC?
What version firmware have the panels been running when you have observed this? What is the date code on the panels? (First 3 characters of the serial number)
What do you mean by freeze up? No touch response? White screen?
What PLC protocol are you using?
My recommendation is that you call technical support and be ready to send in both the 6 " and 15 " projects and possibly your PLC program so this problem can be duplicated.

To VMCA:
Thanks for the info, that tells me that other people have the same problems.
Our screens just stop responding to touch. We aren't trending anything either.

It is a rare. Usually associated with electrically noisy environments, older firmware, a small number of older EA-AC adapters.
Are you data logging at all? Alarms, Lookup text, ...
If so what device, CF or USB drive?
Have you tried the dedicated Power Supplies yet?

1) We data log alarms
2) to a CF
Screens have not locked up lately so we haven't installed decicated power supplies yet.
ALL screens have been updated to version 2.77
They were locking up before the upgrade from version 2.6
All screens are the 15 " size. None of our 6 " screens have locked up.
Happens randomly. Doesn't seem to matter if it is tied to our network or not.

All the HMI have there own Rhino Model: PSB24-060-P power supply.
There is only one location with a reduntant 6 " being used. All the other 15 " do the same thing.
Comms are to ethernet to either AB CompactLogix or AB SLC 5/05 PLCs.
Firmware is 2.77
Button touch will not respond.
I not sure but i suspect it my be some kind of network issue.
I tested the 15 " HMIs for a month simulating activity to and from the PLCs and never had a problem then when I installed in the network the freezing started.
