Suddenly starting CMore (2 different versions) is invoking Windows Installer which just sits there. Windows XP Professional. Any ideas? There have been several Windows Updates recently since I last used CMore.

Uninstall Cmore, reboot, clean out the Windows Temp folders, reboot, and try the install again.

If only
I read this form a lot trying to learn. And i don't recall you ever asking a question only providing helpful answers and suggestions.
And the time you do ask it is again something i know little about so i can not provide a answer.
If only you would have asked a simple question like what day it is then I could tell you with confidence that it is Thursday I think?

Sorry for the delay on this issue, it's not 'mission critical ' - just demo mode on home computer. Following the suggested order, plus using a registry cleaner (CCleaner) didn't help. After all it still launches Windows Installer. It was working before then this behavior started. My work computer has the same Windows updates and hasn't experienced the problem.

Try it again and after you do the install, take a look at the Event logger (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Events). The two categories that we are interested in would be Application and System events. Let me know if anything seems out of place there.
I assume that you are installing with an administrative account with all permissions and have tried turning your AV software off.

I'll check on those things this weekend.

As an afterthought, also take a look in the Add/Remove Programs section of the Control Panel and see if there are any entries for Microsoft Visual C++. I had one of the updates mess up a Cmore install once.

If it helps, C-More is not the only program with the installer trying to load. There is a program from Microsoft that uninstalls this left behind random installers. I do not know the name of it off hand, but if you can not find it I will look for it. I had to use it on other programs where the installer kept trying to load at startup.

I'm watching and waiting. VisualBasic does this also. only irregularly.
