Com ports in C-More Micro software

Today I downloaded the C-More Micro software Ver. 3.20.1.0 and attempted to connect to a panel that has been in service for a few years. We already have the cable and a coworker had been connected to this panel in the past. The C-More Micro software only gives the option of Com 4 and Com 5, neither of which match the open com ports on my laptop. So, I obviously couldn't make a connection. I seem to remember modifying the .ini file in DirectSoft to open up additional ports - is there a similar workaround for the C-More Micro software? Thanks!

The Cmore Micro software only reports the ports that Device Manager tells it are available for use. Please check your Device Manager and see what port was assigned to the Cmore Micro Programming Cable.

That's odd, I must have tried it a dozen times yesterday and it never showed any free ports other than 4 and 5, neither of which were assigned to the three USB ports on my laptop (6,8, and 9) or to the Cmore cable as reported by Device Manager.

The only thing I did differently today was to plug the cable in BEFORE starting the program, and now I see that it shows Com 8 available and Device Manager shows that as the Cmore cable. Should work now - I will go attempt to hook up to the panel and see what happens.

Yep, that did it. I was able to connect to the panel without a problem once I remembered to put it in setup mode.

I was also able to replicate the issue with not seeing the com port unless the cable was plugged into the computer before starting the Cmore Micro software. I'll have to remember that one.

    Thanks for the reply!
