We need to program the EA1-S3ML to the PC. In our workshop, some of our engineers used to program it using some kind of cable which was made locally (i.e. not ordered directly from AD). Could anyone please suggest / guide us what kind of cable should it be? As far as i remember, it used to be the same programming cable that is used with CLICK PLCs. However, it is not working because the 5 VDC supply is missing. Any alternatives to the EA-MG-PGM-CBL?

The User Manual (ea1mguserm.pdf) available on www.automationdirect.com has pin assignments for the communications port in Chapter 2. It also specifies what pins carry power. You should be able to use this information to make your own cable to a standard RS-232 port on your PC . You will also need a separate power supply in this case.

If you have a serial port on your PC you can use the D2-DSCBL, but it will not provide power. The EA-MG-PGM-CBL is specifically designed to provide power to the EA1 series C-more Micro so that you can program without a separate power supply.
