I have a C-More that will occasionally fail to read the PLC. This happened four different times yesterday. It appears to happen randomly. The two times that I tried, it has recovered when going to the system menu and testing the Ethernet connection. When it fails there is no error shown. Communications are through a H2-ECOM100. The only thing on the network is the Cmore, PLC and my laptop. I can always reach the CMore from the programming software and I can control the PLC from Direct Soft. Disconnecting the Ethernet cable from the panel will not show any errors when it is not communicating. If the Ethernet cable is disconnected when it is communicating it will indicate that the device is not found. This is installed at a location that was destroyed by a tornado. The program had worked for about a year before the storm. The faculty was completely rebuilt with new hardware and now I am trying to get it going again.

It sounds like a noise issue.
Make sure that the Cmore is well grounded preferably to the same ground point as the PLC. Also check to make sure that the Power and communications wiring is well away from any AC voltages. The Ethernet switch power should also be kept away from AC voltages as well.
One last thing to check is to make sure that ECOM firmware is up to date.

All points are bonded to a common earth ground. There is no measurable potential difference between these points. AC voltages are seperated as much as is practical. There is 18 " patch cable from PLC-Switch and a 3 ' cable from CMore-Switch.

Are you using a common switch or are there 2 different switches?

Ecom & Cmore on one switch.

I think I would try changing the switch and the switch power source and see if it clears up. It's about the only piece of this puzzle that is hard to monitor if it is working correctly or not.
